EARN MORE Work should be a way out of poverty, not a trap into it.
RAISE THE MINIMUM WAGE
Minimum wage has been frozen for the past three years, but the cost of basic items such as food has not. A full time job should not leave us struggling to pay the rent and put food on the table. A commitment to raise the minimum wage to $11.50/hour in 2013 will help make sure that work pays.

STOP THE CLAW BACK!
Rules that claw back earned income are a barrier for people making the transition from welfare to work. Implementing the Social Assistance Review Commission recommendation that would allow people to earn $200 a month before clawbacks will help low-income people move out of poverty.

CHANGE CHILD SUPPORT RULES
In a single parent family, any child support received is deducted from social assistance income. How can children get a head start when there's barely enough money for food, let alone anything else that makes being a kid such a fun and enriching time?

CHANGE SOCIAL ASSISSTANCE RULES
Current rules require Ontarians in need to totally impoverish themselves by using up all of their assets and savings in order to become eligible to social assistance. The rules should be changed to allow people to keep more and have a chance at getting ahead.

INCREASE THE ONTARIO CHILD BENEFIT
The promise to increase the Ontario Child Benefit (OCB) to $1310 a year by 2013 has been delayed. Our promise to children in low-income families and our commitment to the well being of our neighbours requires the restoration of the original OCB implementation plan.

RESTORE SOCIAL ASSISTANCE RATES & BENEFITS
People receiving social assistance have not seen a real increase in their income since 1993 and benefits continued to be cut or cancelled. The incomes of vulnerable Ontarians must be restored to levels that allow them to meet their basic needs and live with dignity. Housing and Homelessness prevention funding must be fully restored and made permanent.
